Kumihimo Design Lab reimagines the traditional Japanese craft of kumihimo as a new form of architectural and interior decoration.
By utilizing the flexibility and versatility of braided cords, we create artistic ceiling and wall designs, elegant partitions,
and spatial elements that gently filter light and air. Through variations in color and knotting techniques,

We custom design everything, including materials, colors, kumihimo types, and braiding methods, to suit each individual space and application. We are able to provide proposals to satisfy a wide range of requests, including everything from decorative braiding and layering techniques, to the development of structural kumihimo with internal wiring. We will create the ideal kumihimo from both aesthetics and functionality viewpoints.

設計された組紐の魅力を最大限に引き出すため、施工のサポートまで対応。
現場の環境や構造に応じて、取付方法や仕上げのディテールを細やかに調整します。

We also provide support for construction and installation in order to maximize the appeal of designed kumihimo. We will carefully adjust and coordinate attachment methods, finishing details, and other aspects to best suit the site conditions and structure. This allows for the realization of a finish which blends with the space while also maintaining both an appealing appearance and safety.
